Do I have to be fit before I join?
NO! Tae Kwon Do will help improve your level of fitness.

Am I too old to start?
NO! We have people training in our clubs between the ages of 5 and 80. We believe you bring your own self-imposed limits to Tae Kwon Do and we'll do our best to help you expand them. Age is just a number.

How much does it cost?
The first session is FREE. This is so you know whether you like Tae Kwon Do or not, there is no pressure to join if it's not for you. If you decide to join you have to pay a TAGB membership and insurance which is £36 per year. To pay for your training you have options: 
Adults (aged 17 and above)
   Option 1: £36 per month by standing order = £3 each lesson training 3 times a week
   Option 2: £6 per hour (cash)
Juniors (under 17's)
   Option 1: £32 per month by standing order = £2.65 each lesson training 3 times a week
   Option 2: £5 per hour (cash)
- Family discount (2 or more people from the same household)
   Option 1: £29 per person, per month by standing order (paid from the same account) = £2.41 each lesson training 3 times a week
   Option 2: £5 per person per hour (cash)

Do I have to be flexible?
NO! Tae Kwon Do will help improve your level of flexibility.

Do I have to have a special uniform to start with?
NO! Any loose fitting clothes will do, ie. tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt.

Will I be able to defend myself?
YES! The skills you will learn will enable you to react to different attack situations using either blocks, restraints, punches, kicks that have been taught in the class.

Can I achieve my black belt?
YES! A black belt is an indication of sound knowledge and technical competence in Tae Kwon Do. That means you can achieve one irrespective of your age and physical ability. Starting with the white belt which is given to you at the beginner’s class there are ten steps to black belt. Each step has a discreet, manageable level of technical expertise and knowledge to learn. To get black belt it will take approximately just over three years. The progress is especially designed to enable you to become mentally and physically competent at Tae Kwon Do.

Do I have to enter competitions?
NO! Entering competitions is purely optional. The competitions are held regionally, nationally and internationally and are split into men, women, boys and girls, in your own belt divisions and then into weights for adults and heights for children. The TAGB has the most professionally run Tae Kwon Do tournaments in Europe.

How old must my children be before the can start Tae Kwon Do?
We take them from around 5 years of age because they have the basic motor skills required and are able to concentrate longer than the younger children.
